My name is Stephanie Dillon, I was 208 lbs. and had

HealthFit I embarked on a journey to get fit and healthy

When I started, I was just going to do a few sessions,
learn some techniques, get my program and move on. That
was a long time ago. I had worked out for years, lifting
weights and doing cardio, but I'd always had aches and
pains, and it seemed like I was always training around
an injury. I can't believe the difference working out
at Areté HealthFit has made in my training. My
knees, my lower back - even my shoulders and elbows don't

I had gained weight each of the last 3 years
– more than I had realized. I was originally 235
pounds, and was shocked when I stepped on the scale
to see that I had ballooned to 294 pounds. I woke up
one morning and decided that I needed help. So far,
I have lost 80 pounds and 12 inches from my waist. I
can run a mile in less than 6 minutes and 3 miles in
less than 20 minutes. I am also a lot stronger and more
defined, but this isn’t just about looking good.
It’s about being healthy. For a guy in his late
40’s, I’m in the best shape I have ever

Erin "Before coming to work
at Arete HealthFit, I exercised regularly, but was not
100% satisfied with my body and fitness level. For most
of my adolescence and young adult life I struggled with
exercise induced asthma, low back pain, and chronic knee
and ankle instability. Because of the asthma and joint
instabilities, I thought I couldn't run and I had grown
accustomed to needing ibuprofen to control the discomfort
in my back. I didn't know that all of these problems could
be alleviated through proper training. Once I applied
the basic Areté HealthFit training principles,
the same principles that I use everyday with my clients,
to my own exercise regiment, my workouts became more enjoyable,
efficient, and effective. I realized that my low back
pain was a product of poor posture, which can be correct
with some simple strength training, and that my asthma
was really not a limitation, my aerobic fitness was. Today
I stand tall without back pain, I can run intervals up
to 10 miles per hour, my knees and ankles are strong,
and in the process I also lost 5 pounds of body fat."

Kathy and Mark
Areté has literally changed our lives. I (Kathy)
am in my mid 40’s and had gotten into a routine
of skipping meals (I was too busy to eat!). I would
skip breakfast and sometimes lunch. Then I would eat
a large dinner and cap off the evening with chips or
buttered popcorn. I started to gain weight, particularly
in my stomach and thighs. I was stressed out, unmotivated,
and very forgetful. I was also on prozac and growing
increasingly tired of taking medication. I have been
working out at Areté for 5 months now and my
body is definitely more toned. You can even see my abdominal
muscles! Even more important than the muscle tone, I
now have confidence when lifting something or balancing
myself because my core is solid and strong. The people
at Areté have taught me so much about proper
nutrition and healthy eating habits. Plus, I am no longer
taking prozac. I feel energized and less anxious. As
for the forgetfulness… some things never change!
Yet, the biggest change has taken place with my husband
(Mark). Mark is also in his mid 40’s and has worked
long hours at a desk job his entire adult life. His
lifestyle was basically work hard, play hard! He’d
come home late, eat, and then relax in front of the
TV with a few drinks. He got very little physical activity
during the day and had started gaining a lot of extra
weight. He felt sluggish and tired. It was 6 months
ago that Mark first learned of Areté. He started
slowly, but now works out 3 times per week and has learned
how to take care of his body. He has already lost, and
kept off 20 pounds of fat, and continues to lose more.
His profile has completely changed. Mark loves how he
feels after he works outs. Furthermore, Mark and I have
been married for 23 years and our relationship has never
been stronger, plus, we are having so much FUN! The
staff at Areté is great. They push you to your
full potential and they really care about their clients.
As a final note, I would just like to say that we are
not “rich”. I always thought that people
who had personal trainers had to be affluent, but it
isn’t about how much money you have. Rather, it
is about your priorities. Mark and I consider this a
very high priority – we are investing in ourselves
